Hardware Design Engineer

 Syndetix is seeking a creative and talented Hardware Design Engineer to join our engineering team.  In this position you will be responsible for the design and development of elements within our products preferably including: Schematic capture, PCB layout, micro-controller code, and FPGA HDL code.  You will work closely with the team to help create new products from concept to deployment and assist with transitioning the product to production.

 SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITIES:

• Develop hardware components through all phases of the new product process.
• Work closely with the software, mechanical, and production teams to verify functionality.
• Keep up with technology trends in design, manufacturing, and electronic components for application in new products.
• Ensure designs meet the product functionality and certification requirements.
• Collaborate with global supply chain and manufacturing teams to ensure that the product is cost effective and designed for manufacturability.
• Support hardware products throughout the lifecycle.
• Effectively communicate project status to management.

 BASE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in analog and digital circuit design.
• Proficiency using CAD development tools for schematic capture and simulation.
• Familiarity using lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and 5 years of related experience

OR

• Master’s degree in electrical engineering or similar technical master’s degree and 2 years of experience.

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with schematic capture and board layout using the Altium (or similar) toolset.
• Experience with coding Mircochip’s (or similar) family of micro-controllers.
• Experience with Verilog or VHDL for FPGA configurations.
• Experience with DFX (https://fractory.com/design-for-x-dfx/).
• Experience in common electronics manufacturing processes.
• Experience with battery technologies and low power design.

This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. To obtain a clearance, the candidate will need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
