Mission:
Quantum has an opening for a Hardware Engineer to provide hardware break-fix support as part of a team supporting a high-rate storage system in a classified location (Part-Time/On Call).
Responsibilities:
- Provides onsite hardware support for repair parts on-site inventory and provides repairs as required to maintain system reliability standards. Supports a HWE team providing 24x7, 4-hour response for repairs outside of the compute nodes.
- Responsible for building, installing, monitoring, troubleshooting, configuring, managing, and performing break fix hardware and monitoring of hardware on a High-Performance Computing (HPC) server product. Must possess the ability to repair or replace all hardware components on an HPC system.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience
- Have at least three (3) years of demonstrable experience with integrating, installing, configuring, and upgrading highly integrated storage hardware.
- Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.
- Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
- Understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
- Self-motivated and directed.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot an integrated storage system.
- Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding PC and/or hardware problems.
- Develop and maintain an inventory of all parts associated with the storage system.
- TS/SCI clearance and full scope polygraph.
Desired Skills:
- Ability to construct, install, and test customized configurations based on various platforms and operating systems.
- Ability to liaise with third-party support and PC equipment vendors as needed.
