Health Educator is responsible for developing and designing health education programs meant to increase community awareness and knowledge. Conducts needs assessments and keeps up-to-date on changes in health care technology to keep program material current. Being a Health Educator develops, coordinates, and disseminates educational resources and materials. May provide health education outreach and consultation. Additionally, Health Educator requires a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Health Educator work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Seeking Health Educators for inclusive, evidence-based, comprehensive sexual and reproductive health education and youth development programming serving youth ages 10-21 years in school, residential, and community-based settings. Other functions of the role include community and social media outreach, and other duties as assigned.
Candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work with groups of young people in the Syracuse City and North Syracuse School Districts, and community settings in the City of Syracuse.
Strong candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in health education, public health, or a related field, experience working and presenting interactive activities with youth, virtual and in–person presentation skills, understanding of sexual and reproductive health information and services, and knowledge of the Syracuse community. Will consider equivalent work experience. Bilingual language skills a plus.
