  • Position Description: This position will be responsible for strategic planning and implementation of housing programs and economic development strategies. This position will also cultivate funding sources around strategic housing initiatives. Critical to this position is the ability to maintain positive public relationships with governmental, community, and funder partners. The Director of Affordable Housing will also be responsible for business development as it relates to affordable housing projects. This position must coordinate business development efforts with loan officers, credit, and operations departments to underwrite, originate, service, monitor, and collect affordable housing purpose loans and grow depository relationships. Position Responsibilities: Lead the creation of affordable housing strategic plans, business plan, loan deployment goals and loan products. Develop, manage, track, and report on project timelines, milestones, and critical paths for projects. Cultivate new funding sources and maintain funder relationships. Assist with funding applications and development of funding programs. i.e. Capital Magnet Fund, Affordable Housing Investment Fund (state program), etc. Develop and implement organizational policies/procedures as they apply to housing programs. Prepare funding/grant applications and timely reports to partners/funders/stakeholders. Manage public relations to develop an understanding of affordable housing issues in the community; elevate the need for affordable housing. Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with local community partners, local, state and federal government entities, funders, and others. Collaborate with market staff to deploy programing as relevant to rural communities. Expand existing development partnerships and identify new development partners to advance affordable housing projects Supervise multiple loan requests/projects with all stakeholders. Assist with and/or perform duties required to advance projects such as due diligence, environmental studies, document collection. Respond timely and strategically to emergent conditions that challenge project goals Work with developers, lenders, appraisers, state agencies and other stakeholders as needed to support projects. Strong communication skills with ability to clearly express ideas, thoughts, and concepts verbally and in writing. Demonstrated professionalism, diplomacy, composure, flexibility and ability to adapt to a variety of situations. Strong initiative with ability to seek out relevant information prior to making timely decisions. Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate complex activities prioritize conflicting demands and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently, solve problems and take responsibility for moving tasks forward with minimal supervision. Minimum Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -

    A bachelors degree in a related field

    A minimum of 5 years experience with mortgage lending, either as a processor, lender or underwriter or other related background, including non-profit management or affordable housing.

    National and State of Colorado Mortgage Loan Originator License or ability to get license within first 6 months of employment.

    Knowledge of mortgage lending, real estate, and the local housing market

    Experience working with board of directors and non-profit agencies

    Proven successful track record in writing and securing grants

    Strong computer skills, including the ability to work with Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint

    Knowledge of HUD, USDA, and related state and federal resources for housing

    Proven ability to work effectively with community organizations, clients, and public officials

    Experience working the state Housing Finance Agencies, municipalities, and other key stakeholders in housing and community development efforts.

    Each employee of the bank shall be required to complete Bank Secrecy Act / Suspicious Activity training periodically which is commensurate with the duties of their position.
