Financial Analyst - Operations Administration

  • At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards).     Position can be based in Effingham, IL or O'Fallon, MO.


    Position Summary


    As a member of the Operations, Administration team, the Financial Analyst-Operations Administration, position is responsible for supporting the Procurement, Facilities and Operations functions on matters pertaining to accounting and procurement. To include annual budgeting, facilitating procurement activity across the enterprise and conducting 1
    st line of defense financial oversight for the Operations and adjoining areas. This position will report to the Sr. Procurement Specialist. This is an individual contributor role.

    Primary Accountabilities

    • Assists in the development and monitoring of the annual budgets for the Procurement, Facilities and Operations functions.
    • Participates directly in establishing and maturing the bank’s newly formed Procurement function across the enterprise.
    • Assists in monitoring items such as, money management of funds applied to accounts, maintenance of booking, funding, adjustments, refunds/waivers, floor changes, processing of wires/ACH/RDC.
    • Monitors, assesses, and reports exceptions found and work with the applicable areas to resolve the gaps.
    • Identifies areas needing improvement and encourage the adoption of best practices.
    • Engages with Finance, Risk, Compliance, Front Line, and other stakeholders to ensure an agile and collaborative working environment.
    • Generates and presents monthly reporting with line management that will highlight trending (positive or negative) and key areas of concern.
    • Assists in the preparation of executive and board-level reports.
    • Provides necessary documentation to internal auditors.
    • Assists with special projects and ad-hoc requests, as necessary.
    • The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Position Qualifications

    Education/Experience:


    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
    • 3 years relative accounting and banking experience or related professional experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to learn and utilize new software and programs.
    • Experience in Procurement for a service organization is a plus.
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong focus on Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, understanding that urgency and meeting deadlines are frequently part of the work.
    • Display a high degree of accuracy and the ability to provide high quality customer service.
    • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
