PRIMARY PURPOSE: The HR Generalist will oversee critical aspects of our human resources operations. This role involves spearheading the automation of HR processes to enhance productivity and compliance while also managing our HR Information System to ensure data integrity and system efficiency. The candidate will stay current with legal compliance requirements, perform audits, and ensure that all HR practices meet regulatory standards. The candidate will lead initiatives integrating HR technology, policy updates, and organizational structure. The candidate will also assist with employee relations opportunities as needed.
LOCATION: Lawrence, MA
SCHEDULE: 40 Hours, Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm
Essential Functions
- Automation of HR Processes:
- Process Analysis and Automation: Identify HR processes that can be automated (e.g., onboarding, payroll action forms, performance reviews) and implement solutions that streamline these processes. This might involve setting up workflows in HR software, integrating new tools, or configuring existing systems for better efficiency.
- Training and Support: Provide training for staff on new automated systems and offer ongoing support to ensure smooth operation and user adoption.
- HRIS Management and Maintenance:
- Oversight of HRIS: Ensure the Human Resource Information System is up-to-date, functional, and secure. This includes data integrity, backups, security protocols, and system upgrades.
- Data Management: Regularly update employee records, manage data entry and ensure all information complies with data protection laws.
- Compliance Management:
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of local and national laws and regulations affecting HR (like labor laws, employment equity, health and safety regulations). Ensure all HR practices, including those automated, adhere to these legal frameworks.
- Audit and Reporting: Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance, prepare reports, and manage documentation that might be required for legal or internal reviews.
- Employee Relations:
- Conflict Resolution: Act as a mediator in workplace disputes, helping to resolve conflicts in a fair and impartial manner. This also includes managing formal grievances and investigations.
- Engagement and Feedback: Implement and manage systems for collecting employee feedback, conducting engagement surveys, and ensuring that HR strategies reflect employee needs and morale.
- Strategic HR Initiatives:
- Project Management for HR Projects: Lead or support projects related to HR technology implementations, policy changes, or organizational restructures. This involves coordinating with various departments, setting timelines, and meeting project goals.
- Support other team members in job description development, compensation analysis, and benefit open enrollment.
Qualifications
This role demands a blend of technical expertise in HRIS and automation tools, a deep understanding of employment laws, and strong interpersonal skills to support all levels of our workforce. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, continuously adapting to evolving HR technologies and legislative changes.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum three years of experience with HRIS, ATS, or other Human Resources systems. Paycom is a plus.
- Must have a sense of urgency, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and high organizational and prioritizing skills.
- Valid driver’s license and a minimum of 1 year of driving experience.
- The ability to occasionally drive to local worksites in the Merrimack Valley area.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Experience with union environment preferred.
