Job Summary: We are looking for a Human Resources Generalist to assist the company with all Human Resources needs. The selected candidate will be tasked with maintaining employee databases & and files, assisting with employee relations issues, participating in terminations and disciplinary actions, and contributing to the overall development and success of the Human Resources department. The successful candidate should be highly organized and able to work independently. This is a non-exempt salary position reporting directly to the Human Resources Manager. This position will be located in the Corporate office in Elko, NV. The selected candidate will be required to travel to all 5 Regional Offices to provide HR support, as needed.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and executing personnel procedures and policies, and provide guidance and interpretation for business operations
- Participate in the development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and ongoing reports for company requirements
- Investigate complaints brought forward by employees.
- Coordinate employee development plans and performance management
- Assist with disciplinary actions and terminations
- Manage the organization’s employee database and filing of personnel files
- Assist with new hire orientation and supervisory training
- Produce and submit reports on general HR activity
- Assist in administering benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs
- Ensure compliance with local and national regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and procedures when necessary
- Protect the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations
- Interact with all company personnel in a pleasant, helpful, and courteous manner
- Maintain the highest levels of professionalism and confidentiality at all times
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by management
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 1-3 years of experience as an HR Coordinator/Representative (required)
- SHRM or HRCI certification, a plus
- General understanding of Labor Law and employment equity regulations
- Efficient HR administration and people management skills.
- Proficient in computer software and programs (HRIS, ATS, Microsoft Office, etc.)
- High level of attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, and strong analytical skills
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Outlook, Excel and Word
- Experience in mining, manufacturing, maintenance service and/or construction industry is a plus
- Must be organized and self-directed, working with little or no supervision
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance
