We are currently seeking a full-time Human Resources Supervisor for Gurwin’s Assisted Living community – Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner Residence. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide advice and counsel to all levels of management pertaining to employee relations issues and workplace concerns, including performance improvement plans e.g., documentation of steps taken and upon consultation with the Chief People Officer, authorization of termination actions.
- Consult with and schedule time as necessary to meet with employees who want to speak with Human Resources. Respond to employee concerns, conduct fact-finding investigations as warranted and prepare recommended course of action for VP/Administrator and Chief People Officer’s review. Offer mediation services to resolve workplace differences between employees as well as supervisors and staff. Provide guidance and support as it relates to regulations, policies and practices.
- Maintain information systems records and employee personnel files for over 100 employees and contractors, including employee health information, licenses and certifications, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Follow up as necessary to obtain incomplete and / or missing documents.
- Coordinate employee benefits, such as medical, dental, vision, tuition reimbursement. Respond to inquiries from staff and assist with benefits open enrollment. Audit monthly bills to ensure accuracy with billing, removing and adding employees/dependents as appropriate.
- Administer leave of absence paperwork, such as Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Paid Family Leave (PFL) or personal leave. This includes providing eligibility information to employees, preparing paperwork, following up to obtain appropriate documentation, tracking of leaves and ensuring appropriate return to work documentation.
- Responsible for the recruitment process including; developing/updating job descriptions, posting available positions, screening resumes, interviewing, reference checks, extending offers, scheduling new hire pre-employment processing (i.e fingerprinting).
- Primary contact for generating and routing Request for Change forms and Position Requisitions through the VP/Administrator and Chief People Officer. Discuss issues / concerns with payroll to ensure accuracy with employees pay.
- Ensure that all new hire training is completed within the appropriate time frame to include mandatory in-service and specific department training.
- Handle compliance monitoring including, but not limited to: tracking of licenses/certifications, performance evaluations, I-9 information, confidentiality agreements, etc.
- Responsible for coordinating and promoting various employee recognition events. This includes but is not limited to the logistics and applicable presentations for the Employee of the Month, Winter Celebration, Employee Appreciation Day, Annual Staff BBQ, Assisted Living Week and other impromptu recognition events.
- Utilize Gurwin’s Beekeeper system for communication to Gurwin Fay J. Lindner staff and the collective Gurwin Healthcare System to provide timely updates and cultivate team building within the community.
- Stay abreast of changes and evolving interpretations of state and federal laws, as well as an understanding of Assisted Living regulations as it relates to changes to human resources policies and procedures. Collaborate with the Chief People Officer regarding development of new or revised policies that may be warranted by regulatory changes, adoption of HR best practices or workplace trends.
- Willingness to accept and handle other projects as assigned by his/her supervisor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
- 6-8 years’ generalist experience that includes employee relations, benefits administration, employment law and compensation.
- Previous HR experience in a healthcare/Assisted Living setting strongly preferred
- Excellent organizational skills, highly detail oriented with strong analytical skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be a critical thinker.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Deal discretely with sensitive information concerning performance of staff and Human Resources issues.
