West Chester University of Pennsylvania the Department of Information Services & Technology (IST) is accepting applications for the position of AV/IT Technician (Information Technology Generalist I) for the Philadelphia campus located at 701 Market Street. The schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday, 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm; and Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

The Department of Information Services and Technology (IS&T) supports student success through strategic information technology partnerships with the entire university community. The Project Management Office (PMO) defines and maintains standards for project management within the project portfolio, establishes and implements best practices and standards related to project management, planning, and execution, and serves as a central hub for project documentation, guidance, and success metrics.

The AV/IT Technician provides excellent customer service and technical support to faculty, staff, and students for a variety of technology solutions, including audio visual presentation systems both wired and wireless, collaboration tools, videoconferencing tools, lecture capture technologies, digital signage, computer hardware, printers, software, and connectivity to the university network (hard wired and wireless) on the Philadelphia campus.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate AV and IT technical knowledge, AV & IT troubleshooting experience, end-user training experience and excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills. 

Responsibilities include: 

• Providing classroom and meeting space multimedia support and maintenance 
• Providing technical support of classroom and distance education audio/video equipment which includes presentation, lecture capture, server-based video storage, video recording and video conference technology 
• Maintaining all campus multimedia facilities
• Providing general maintenance and repair of supported campus hardware and software technology
• Providing training for faculty and staff on Audio/Visual equipment
• Ensuring systems are properly shut off at end of the day 
• Interfacing with vendors as necessary regarding installation, diagnosis, and repair of interactive technology
• Deploying, supporting, and maintaining university owned end-user devices including desktop computers, laptops/tablets, and printers including hardware and software installation
• Providing basic support for all hard-wired and wireless network connectivity
• Responsible for monitoring, operation, installation, and maintenance involved in the administration of AV/IT devices both networked and standalone
• Keeping technologically current in the fields of audio and video transmission technology, IP video conferencing, and instructional classroom technology
• Maintaining and managing disbursed, specialized classroom facilities to ensure existing LAN compatibility

• One year as an Information Technology Trainee (LG), Information Technology Trainee, Information Technology Technician (LG) or Information Technology Technician OR
• One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate's degree in any information technology field OR
• Three years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services OR
• An equivalent combination of experience and training

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of the component parts of personal computers, peripherals, servers, and their associated functionality
• Knowledge of the functions and capabilities of hardware and software
• Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques
• Knowledge of the use and interpretation of diagnostic utility programs used in troubleshooting problems
• Knowledge of networking concepts
• Knowledge of application development concepts
• Knowledge of database concepts
• Knowledge of web development concepts
• Knowledge of the principles of information technology project management
• Knowledge of information technology security principles
• Knowledge of research principles and techniques to identify business requirements and solutions to problems
• Knowledge of hardware and software testing methods
• Knowledge of the principles and techniques of information technology documentation
• Knowledge of information technology systems performance monitoring techniques
• Ability to analyze business processes to identify functional requirements
• Ability to read and interpret technical materials such as specifications, technical manuals, and other project documentation
• Ability to identify correct logic relationships and statements
• Ability to analyze information in order to diagnose and troubleshoot technical problems
• Ability to communicate effectively orally
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

• Customer service experience 
• Experience deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting WIN & MAC computer HW/SW, including printers
• Experience with setup, troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of AV presentation systems
• Experience supporting audiovisual control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron, AMX)
• Experience supporting video and web conferencing technologies and equipment
• Experience with audiovisual recording technologies and live streaming
