The Instructional Designer II conducts skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Designs and develops training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Being an Instructional Designer II develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. In addition, Instructional Designer II writes and edits outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Evaluates the software or collaboration tools to be selected for training. Establishes metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness. May collaborate with vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. May coach trainers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Being an Instructional Designer II occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Develop materials for instructor-led classes. 

    • Partner with the Talent Development team to develop training materials for new and existing instructor-led programs. Review, evaluate, and modify existing and proposed programs as directed, and maintain process documentation related to uploading and creating content.
    • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for the Talent Development program and SPICE.
    • Create presentations and ancillary documents, including, but not limited to; job aids, workbooks, and on-the-job evaluation (OJE) forms to support instructor-led training.
    • Participate in train-the-trainer sessions as needed and maintain any necessary internal certifications in core coursework.
    • Develop and maintain materials to be used for reference once training is completed.
    • Manage and maintain assigned computer software and equipment.  

    Act as the primary designer for all SPICE U classes and internal eLearning projects. 

    • Partner with the Talent Development Manager to develop training materials for new and existing online programs; review, evaluate, and modify existing and proposed programs as directed.
    • Assist employees in effective navigation of the Learning Management System (LMS).
    • Act as an E-Learning content creator for SPICE University. 
    • Partner with Talent Development Manager to understand needs and design engaging learning that supports business goals, diagnosing and escalating risks to design projects as necessary.
    • Design and develop comprehensive learning solutions, incorporating multiple deliverables (online, video, simulations, ILT, virtual, etc.), and create online modules from inception to completion, including storyboards, scripting, assessment, and multi-media inclusion.
    • Stay current on policies and procedures for the MCCNO client base.
    • Maintain knowledge of latest industry tools and processes to ensure relevant and cutting-edge course content.
    • Manage external resources to maximize cost effectiveness and quality.
    • Track and communicate accurate status of projects, milestones, and tasks.
    • Research, evaluate, and curate content for SPICE University, as assigned.

    Manage the Subject Matter Expert (SME) Program.  

    • Create a comprehensive SME program including selection and training criteria, incentives for participation, and workflow for projects from proposal through implementation.
    • Establish metrics to quantify success of program participants.
    • Partner with Talent Development Manager to prioritize project requests to support organizational goals.
    • Develop program materials, including stakeholder intake forms for project scope determination, milestones, deliverables, and deadlines, and design enhancements and revisions to existing materials based on SME/leadership feedback.
    • Manage stakeholder expectations and engagement to efficiently deliver learning solutions within a project’s pre-determined scope.

    Support Talent Development & Culture Initiatives. 

    • Execute employee engagement events, from planning through conclusion; working with the Talent Development team to coordinate logistics, prepare content and supporting documentation, procure decorations, and collaborate with relevant departments to ensure essential event services are in place.
    • Actively participate as a member of the iCollab (Innovation Collaboration) team.
    • Provide support in organizational development projects.
