Everett Community College (EvCC) is seeking a Biology Instructor committed to creating equitable and quality access to STEM education for learners from diverse backgrounds. This is a full-time tenure track position beginning Winter 2023. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team that values continued reflection and collaboration to promote high impact and holistic practices which contribute to student success outcomes.
This position reports to the Dean of STEM & Health Professions. Primary responsibilities include:

• Prepare and teach college-level Biological sciences courses.
• Facilitate student learning by using a variety of classroom activities including collaborative formats, discussion, lecture, demonstration, online, and technology-based techniques.
• Identify and implement procedures/techniques to assess individual student learning, as well as achievement of course, program, and college learning outcomes.
• Prepare course materials including classroom activities, lecture notes, and exams.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff on department, division and campus-wide projects.
• Participate in other tasks related to instruction in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, College policies, and EvCC Shared Governance.

Through our Guided Pathways Advising model, full-time Instructional and Counseling faculty serve as program advisors for students. Faculty in these areas are assigned a caseload each year in line with the AFT Faculty Contract. These duties include, but are not limited to building and maintainingprofessional relationships with advisees to support them in their goals, creating, reviewing and approving academic plans; providing career and/or transfer advice; and making referrals to appropriate EvCC support services.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Masters degree in Biology or related field.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching Biology courses.
• Experience or expertise serving underrepresented students or communities (i.e inclusive or antiracist pedagogy; mentoring and/or advising underrepresented students; using data to reflect on classroom practice and opportunity gaps).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Biology or related field.
• Documented excellence in teaching college-level Biology courses, reflected in student and/or supervisor evaluations.
• Proficiency in curriculum and lesson development.
• Experience using a variety of classroom assessment techniques.
• Experience teaching Biology laboratory curricula.
• Experience teaching cellular, molecular, environmental science and or plant physiology and ethnobiology.
• Experience using a variety of different teaching modalities (such as lecture, discussion, group activities, etc.).
• Ability to collaborate and work effectively with colleagues.
• A philosophy of education appropriate to a learner-centered community college.
• Experience with advanced pedagogical techniques.

Work Hours: The teaching load typically consists of three courses during each of three quarters (September through June). The teaching schedule may include late afternoon or evening teaching assignments. Summer teaching is optional and may be available.

Salary: $66,288 - $69,602 Fall to Spring
