Instructor - Electrical Engineering teaches courses in the discipline area of electrical engineering. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Electrical Engineering provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Electrical Engineering typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.     Purpose: Assists Electrician to install and repair electrical wiring, fixtures and equipment.
    Level Classification: Multi level designations indicate levels of proficiency, experience, training, education,
    certification, tenure and resulting compensation
    Work Schedule: Varies by location. Must have open availability any time any day of the week. Length of
    employment is limited to job assignment and/or project duration.
    Essential Skills (may include but are not limited to the ability to: )
    Level III
    • Identify Electrical hand tools
    • Identify power tools
    • Make measurements with tape to the 1/16" accuracy
    • Use hand tools
    • Use power tools
    • Identify conduit and hardware
    • Pull cable and wire through conduit
    • Use power tools: Port a bands, Drill Motor, Side Grinder, Hilti Drill, Electric Tugger, Sawzall, and
    Knockout
    • Work within company policy as outlined in the Samuel EPC Craft Handbook and maintain
    compliance with both the Samuel EPC Human Resources Policy Manual and the Samuel EPC
    Safety Manual.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the foreman/supervisor as needed.
    Level II (All of Level III plus the following)
    • Identify rigging and equipment
    • Identify cable tray and hardware
    • Fabricate hangers and brackets
    • Measure, cut, and thread conduit
    • Mount junction boxes
    • Perform basic math job calculations
    • Basic blueprint reading
    • Perform cad weld grounding
    • Figure offsets, bend, and install conduit with pull points
    • Identify types & sizes of wire, cable insulation, & color code of multi conductor
    • Identify electrical meters & instruments
    • Install hangers and brackets
    • Fabricate push button stands
    • Install ground lugs
    • State and perform Lock Out and Tag Out method using Samuel EPC/OSHA procedures
    Level I (All of Level III and Level II plus the following)
    • Perform Rigging
    • Install compression & mechanical lugs on various wire
    • Ring out cables
    • Read wire/cable schedules
    • Mount push button stands (to job specs and details, plumb and square with 100% accuracy)
    • Determine elevation and location of all electrical services using prints and diagrams
    • Install switches
    • Figure, cut & install cable tray with offsets
    • Read single lines, schematics loop
    • Identify starter components
    • Perform Megger Testing of cables
    • Read and solve problems using Ohm's Law
    • Requisition material from warehouse from blueprints
    • Make connections using hydraulic and compression tool
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the foreman/supervisor as needed.
    Essential Qualifications
    • Two (2) years minimum Field experience in trade
    • Ability to work with others to achieve job goals
    • Read, write and communicate using the English language sufficient to perform job
    functions (other preferences will be given for special language skills where there is a
    business need)

    • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50
    pounds with assistance

    Environment: Construction Workers perform physically demanding work including lifting and carrying
    heavy objects, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling in awkward positions. Some work at great
    heights, or outdoors in all weather conditions. With some projects, work exposure to
    harmful/hazardous materials, chemicals, fumes, odors, lead-based paints, asbestos, loud noise, or
    dangerous machinery may exist. To avoid injury, workers in these jobs wear safety clothing, such as
    gloves, hardhats, protective chemical suits, and devices to protect their eyes, respiratory system, or
    hearing. While working in underground and/or confined spaces, Construction Workers must be
    especially alert to safely follow procedures and must deal with a variety of hazards.
