    This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, G. Werber Bryan Psychiatric Hospital, 220 Faison Drive, Columbia SC 29203.

    As the Social Work Manager, working under limited supervision, you will perform diversified social work duties for a complex, caseload consisting of patients with multiple psycho-social problems, behavioral and emotional disorders, and substance use disorders. These duties include completing assessments, group and individual treatment, discharge planning, and other related duties. Will provide services to an inpatient population of children and adolescents between the ages of four (4) and seventeen (17) years old.

    Responsibilities for this Social Work Manager include but are not limited to:
    • Maintains a caseload of child and adolescent patients requiring intensive psychiatric treatment by completing all documentation and clinical services related to caseload assignment to include, but not limited to, case management, group, individual, and family counseling/treatment, treatment planning, short-term intervention' as needed, and discharge planning.
    • Coordinates discharge planning and assumes the major role for implementation of referrals, scheduling appointments and the sharing of recommendations with community agencies and programs to ensure continuity of care. This includes alternate care placements with other resources to ensure a smooth transition.
    • Performs case coordination for multi-disciplinary treatment team process. Coordinates with treatment team, family, patients and other collateral sources, monitors patient's treatment and provides information for treatment team to ensure patients' needs are being met.
    • Responsible for preparation and completion of thorough and accurate Psychosocial Assessments and other documents for assigned patients. Completes Designated Examiner Reports (DE) for assigned patients and submits in a timely manner. Assists with completing Designated Examiner Reports (DE) for colleagues as assigned. Ensures all documentation is submitted into the EHR is professionally written with accurate punctuation and grammar.
    • As assigned by Supervisor, will serve as a field instructor or preceptor for students completing their field placement at WSHPI. Will be responsible for submitting appropriate paperwork as needed for the student and ensuring the student meets all educational/contractual requirements.
    • Provides hazardous weather coverage and weekend coverage as needed and/or assigned.
    State Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in social work from a program accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting body for social work programs, or from a social work program whose standards are at least equivalent to the minimum standards required by the nationally recognized accrediting body approved by the Board. 
     
    Agency (Facility) Minimum Requirements: A master's degree from a social work program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and one (1) year of practice social work at this level.

    Note:   If any Agency Requirements are listed above, applicants must also meet those requirements to be considered for the position.The selected candidate should be capable of delivering social work services to a diverse and highly vulnerable population which presents with multiple psycho-social problems, with little supervision of the technical aspect of Social Work. Must have excellent professional judgment and must be willing to participate in training. Ability to work late hours/evenings and weekends and during hazardous weather conditions. Ability to move freely around the campus and utilize computer to complete essential duties. Knowledge and experience in a psychiatric setting with children, adolescents and their families. Knowledge of community resources.
