- Traffic Operations and Transportation Planning:
- Address traffic problems and implement solutions to enhance traffic flow and safety, including pedestrians and cyclists.
- Collaborate with transportation planners to optimize city transit and connectivity.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Liaise with multiple stakeholders including the Texas Department of Transportation, local residents, business owners, and other governmental entities.
- Foster strong relationships and effectively communicate project impacts and plans.
- Presentation and Reporting:
- Provide comprehensive presentations to City Management and City Council regarding engineering projects, progress, and challenges.
- Prepare and deliver reports on infrastructure status, project completions, and future plans.
- Budget Management:
- Oversee the engineering department's budget, ensuring effective allocation and management of funds.
- Ensure projects are completed within budget constraints and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with other department heads to ensure interdepartmental collaboration and efficiency.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Extensive experience in the maintenance and management of street and drainage infrastructure.
- Proven track record in solving complex traffic and transportation problems.
- Demonstrated ability in engaging and managing multiple stakeholders.
- Strong experience in presenting to city management and council.
- Proficient in municipal budget management.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to city infrastructure and planning.
