Internal Communications Manager

  • Motional is seeking a rockstar Internal Communications Manager with a strong communications foundation to join our Marketing and Communications team. This role would be responsible for leading, developing, and implementing an effective internal communications strategy at Motional. This is a high profile role that reports to the VP of Commercial, and interfaces directly with the C-Suite. The role involves crafting clear and effective messaging to inform and engage employees, ensuring alignment with Motional's core values and goals, and promoting Motional's position as an industry leader. You will be tuned into the pulse of the business and will amplify key milestones and initiatives with our global employees. Responsibilities include developing an internal communications strategy, managing internal communication channels, creating content for various mediums including internal and external platforms, supporting thought leadership engagements, and collaborating with different departments/stakeholders to maintain a cohesive, informed, and engaged workforce.

    What you'll be doing:

    • Partner with cross-functional teams (senior leadership, Human Resources, Engineering, etc.) to evaluate internal communication needs and develop a comprehensive internal communications strategy that supports Motional's business objectives, recruitment, and employee engagement goals
    • Serve as a key communications advisor to the leadership team on high-priority strategic, technical, and organizational initiatives (organizational changes, crisis communications, program launches, etc.)
    • Work closely with senior leaders to manage executive communications across multiple mediums that drive enterprise-wide understanding of leadership vision, key business goals, and strategy
    • Oversee all internal communications ensuring consistent and engaging messaging across the organization spanning various channels including Slack, email, Intranet, and presentations
    • Own the schedule, create the agenda, and develop content for leadership events such as town halls, global calls, and fireside chats in collaboration with key stakeholders
    • Enable a regular information flow to engage, excite, inform, and align teams across various offices, time zones, and focus areas
    • Lead and structure employee engagement surveys to garner employee feedback and adapt internal communications and engagement accordingly
    • Develop the budget and track costs for all internal communication tools and events
    • Plan and manage the design, content, and production of all internal communication materials
    • Prepare memos and Q&As for communicating key updates to employees
    • Support recruitment and employee engagement through Motional's social media strategy and content development
    • Assist in thought leadership engagements, such as external speaking events, awards, and more.
    • Work with different cross functional departments to generate new ideas and strategies


    What were looking for:


    • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing or Communications, or other relevant major or equivalent experience.
    • 5 years of professional internal communications experience (agency or in-house)
    • This position will be hybrid based out of our Boston, MA office.
    • A confident communicator and presenter
    • A passion for writing and the ability to craft clear and concise prose and tell stories that resonate
    • Strong editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills are essential, including the ability to present concepts verbally
    • Extreme attention to detail, with excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills
    • Experience working in a face-paced environment, dealing with ambiguity and managing change
    • A wide degree of creativity and latitude
    • Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management
    • Comfort dealing with the technical subject matter (robotics, machine learning, etc.)
    • Ability to think outside the box and bring a fresh perspective to present and future opportunities

    Working Conditions:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to convey and detect communication
    • The employee is occasionally required to remain stationary at times for up to 50% of working time, move in designated working areas; & operate and use office equipment
    • The employee must occasionally move up to 50 pounds

    The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors including but not limited to specific skills, experience and expertise, role location, certifications, licenses, and business needs. The estimated compensation range listed in this job posting reflects base salary only. This role may include additional forms of compensation such as a bonus or company equity.     Salary Range

    $94,900—$142,000 USD
