GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) is seeking a User Experience (UX)/ User Interface (UI) Designer to join our team at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM, which provides integral mission support to the NNSA. This position is full-time and will serve the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in technology, behavioral science, design, or related field and 4 years of relevant experience.

Thorough understanding of user-centered design and UX principles (information architecture, usability, prototyping, etc.) and the ability to conceptualize, design, and deliver responsive web products across devices.

Experience creating visual assets optimized for web publishing.

Demonstrated ability to distill complex information and requirements into elegant and intuitive designs.

Demonstrated knowledge of visual design, branding, typography, iconography, illustration, photo editing, data visualization, infographics, or interactive graphics.

Ability to deliver production-ready UI designs and a fundamental understanding of front-end coding, tech stacks, and web technologies (HTML5, CSS).

Experience working on a product team and/or directly with web developers and content creators.

Ability to create interactive prototypes using relevant design software.

Ability to work with, support, and advance LANL’s existing design systems, style guides, and web component libraries.

Knowledge in skills, such as writing, editing, and visual design to create communication products and knowledge of branding.

Experience with design and strategy for editorial or marketing content across a range of platforms will be advantageous.

Understanding of visual storytelling and demonstrated experience creating multimedia digital content and/or omnichannel campaigns.

Overview:
- 269Plans, develops, and produces a variety of two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) graphic design products for scientific and administrative publications, exhibits, and multimedia displays.

Specific duties include conducting communication needs assessments, interacting with customers to analyze and develop content, and advising customers on Lab publication policies and procedures.

Join the Multimedia Production (CEA-MP) group at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) to inform, engage, and inspire LANL’s internal and external audiences through the creation of intuitive and innovative web experiences.

Design and conduct research studies, analyze data, transform findings into easily understandable insights, and present your results.

Work closely with developers to create seamless web and mobile designs and support the implementation of UI/UX principles and best practices across digital platforms.
