The foster home licensing specialist is responsible for performing the duties listed below:
1) Submit all forms and documentation required to license and maintain license of all foster homes. This would include: complaint investigations, licensing forms, renewal and annual forms and documentation, and statistics on inquiries, and enrolled and closing homes.
2) Follow through on assessing and documenting that foster parents have the capacity to fulfill foster parenting role, as well as documenting and communicating what type of children would be appropriate to be placed in the home.
3) Ensure the child placing agency licensing rules/regulations and CFS policies and practices are met by foster/adoptive parents.
4) Actively pursue foster/adoptive home inquiries that lead to licensing homes, and encouraging retention of homes via staff and foster/adoptive parent contact.
5) Participate in referral staff meetings, family resource team meetings, and full staff meetings as required.
6) To work as part of the family resources team. Communicate with licensing staff, adoption staff, foster care and intake staff and supervisors as licensing needs and issues arise.
7) Participate in the development and implementation of the master recruitment plan and ongoing evaluation plan of its effectiveness in acquiring new foster and adoptive homes.
8) Work to increase awareness and education of the need for foster and adoptive homes through trainings, presentations, and interactions with the community.
9) Support and participate/teach in training classes following the schedule of training set up for each year.
10) Maintain awareness of current issues important to foster/adoptive parents via contact with other foster and adoptive parents, staff, reading of current literature, and conferences/trainings.
11) Attend staff development and training activities on a regular basis.
12) Perform all other assigned tasks as requested by the family resource supervisor related to program goals and standards. Staff may be assigned to assist with other duties by administration. These duties may include: speeches, public relations and special events, committee assignments, or work on task forces or committees.
13) Actively participate in the agency’s CQI process.
