    Montana Specialty Mills is a joint venture between Columbia Grain International, a leading worldwide grain and pulse supplier based in Portland, Oregon, and Evans Grain based in Burley,
    Idaho.

    Our new, state-of-the-art crush plant and refinery represents a firm investment in Montana agriculture. Located along the Missouri River in Great Falls, this facility is focused on processing specialty oilseeds. Our Great Falls plant has the capability to load product into railcars, bulk trucks, totes and drums. This facility is designed to process identity-preserved crops, and we offer a wide variety of products and toll processing services.

    Position Description

    This position is responsible for safely performing the tasks associated with receiving, processing, storing and shipping oilseeds, vegetable oil and bulk meal products.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

    · Sample, inspect and evaluate quality of inbound seed to ensure conformity with established standards and specifications including GMO traits.

    · Inspect empty oil and meal trucks and rail cars for cleanliness prior to loading.

    · Weigh inbound and outbound trucks and rail cars on automatic scale.

    · Operate equipment used in the movement of commodities.

    · Pull slide gates, start conveyors and select conveyance route to unload oilseeds into assigned storage bins.

    · Load outbound oil and meal into trucks and rail cars.

    · Hook-up necessary hoses, open proper valves and blow out lines upon completion.

    · Complete forms and necessary paperwork. Record weight, description and pertinent information regarding all commodities received and shipped.

    · Operate within health, safety and fire procedures and regulations.

    · Perform general housekeeping and keep the facility and grounds clean, tidy and free of fire or health hazards.

    · Complete regular filter changes in oil load-out system.

    · Demonstrate ability to develop and maintain effective relationship with MSM staff.

    · Assist with carrying out the responsibilities with other staff members, including maintenance when necessary.

    · Ensure compliance with all MSM established policies and procedures per management directions.

    · Operation of forklift, skid steer and track-mobile to load inbound and outbound product.

    · Perform other duties as assigned by management.

    · Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

    · Language Skills: Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, correspondence and emails.
    Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, truck drivers and other employees.

    · Basic computer skills

    · Must have availability to work a flexible schedule as needed during busier cycles and as business activity dictates.

    · Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

    · Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carryout instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems by seeking help from manager and following established procedures.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    · Required to wear protective equipment to include hard hat, protective footwear and other PPE as required.

    · While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be exposed to confined spaces, extreme cold and heat, moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, extreme and various heights, electrical shock, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, all weather conditions, vibrations and loud noise. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, but not excessive (ear protection is available, but not required by OSHA).

    · The employee is regularly required to type on computer keyboard, climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs. The employee often will use their hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
