Logistics Director manages all aspects of an organization's logistics management function to control, deliver, and distribute products and materials to the destination. Implements an overall strategy, metrics, and processes to deploy an optimized logistic network and operations. Being a Logistics Director oversees critical and related inventory, distribution, and transportation operations that support the achievement of organizational goals and KPI's for product delivery and customer satisfaction. Selects vendors and negotiates rates and service levels and monitors performance. Additionally, Logistics Director ensures compliance with all regulations governing transportation of goods. Utilizes analytics to monitor and measure performance, identify problems in operations, and achieve high performance at optimal cost. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Logistics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Logistics Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Job Summary

    The Director of Global Logistics will serve as the strategic leader on all Global Logistics responsibilities within the Outform Group function and is responsible for the strategy and framework to support Outform Group; continuing to integrate our operational capabilities and deliver memorable customer experiences.


    Responsibilities

    • Leads and executes the Global Strategy & Vision for Logistics, to include all sites.
    • Drives the Global Planning & Logistics Leadership Team, ensuring collaboration across all supply chain functions, and helps to deliver the overall supply chain strategy.
    • Leads a team that manages all aspects inbound and outbound freight between regions.
    • Directs the development of logistics procurement strategies that optimize the company’s ability to provide outstanding service to customers at the most effective overall cost, regardless of geographical location.
    • Optimizes overall freight network, building strong relationships with strategic truck, rail, ocean, and intermodal carriers.
    • Develops and executes a low cost/high service logistics service, ensuring trust with internal and external customers.
    • Ensure quality and regulatory compliance procedures and processes are adhered to at all global Outform facilities.
    • Develops, implements, and negotiates strategies to identify and institutionalize best practices to improve all aspects of the planning, logistics network and asset management services to ensure the company has a service and cost advantage versus our competition. Integrate within an ERP process.
    • Translates business strategies into actionable plans by leveraging market and functional knowledge.
    • Monitor freight rates and Global vendor KPI’s within ERP to ensure compliance.
    • Anticipates organizational challenges and resolves them by working collaboratively with teams beyond their own area of direct responsibility.
    • Champions new processes to remove barriers and adapts to current processes to facilitate improvements.
    • Build morale across teams by providing clear direction, recognition and positive feedback for a job well done.

    Qualifications

    • 10 years international and domestic logistics operations in a managerial role.
    • 10 years managerial experience leading all aspects of local and international logistics operations in a change management environment
    • A robust understanding of legal compliance and Incoterms, with US and wide-ranging overseas logistics operations
    • Proven ability to create and implement logistics processes aligning with best practice ERP methodology
    • Deep knowledge of all transportation modes, domestic and international
    • Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to effectively set direction, coach, guide and develop employees and create an environment of positive accountability
    • Demonstrated strong negotiating skills in a best value, cost down environment
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategies to support the achievement of business and financial objectives. Experienced with the use of KPI’s to measure team and self-performance
    • Strong written and oral communication skills required as well as the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization and use influence skills effectively in a cross functional environment
