Maintenance Planner, Sr. devises plans and programs for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Accurately defines and estimates required work requests and maintains a consistent tracking system for work orders. Being a Maintenance Planner, Sr. develops inspection and survey procedures to ensure an effective preventative maintenance system. Works closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Additionally, Maintenance Planner, Sr. utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Typically uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Monitors spare parts inventory to ensure availability of required parts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Summary:
Working under general supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Planner plans, coordinates and schedules various maintenance and repair projects to ensure the continuous operation and reliable performance of the mill buildings, facilities, machinery, equipment, and any fleet vehicles. Collaborates with other departments to manage work priorities, develop job plans, identify the necessary resources (parts, materials, supplies, skillset and personnel) to complete projects.
Responsibilities:

Serves as principal contact and liaison between Maintenance and Operations in the planning, scheduling and coordinating of routine and non-routine corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance work on mill , buildings, facilities, machinery, and equipment. Contacts and works with personnel from other departments as needed.
The Planner provides a safe operating environment by ensuring proper resources are provided for each job/project.
Receives and reviews requests for maintenance and repair work and determines the most efficient and effective method to accomplish the work. Consults with others as necessary.
Provides job estimates for the work to be performed: labor, supplies and material, and any outside services.
Works with the maintenance lead and managers to determine resource availability and balance the workforce load. Develops preliminary workforce schedules. Verifies all material, information, tools and labor are available prior to scheduling.
Provides direction to warehouse personnel regarding the procurement and pre-staging of all parts and material required for the completion of maintenance jobs.
Manages and administers the Maintenance Management System (MMS), including developing a metrics program to measure division efficiency and labor utilization and to produce work performance reports for management information and use.
EDUCATION:
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five (5) years of industrial maintenance and repair experience, including two (2) years of prior experience planning and scheduling maintenance and repair work. A combination of education and specialized planning and scheduling experience may substitute for the two years of prior experience.
Working knowledge of pumps, motors, general and specialized parts, electrical, welding and mechanical equipment typically used in water/wastewater treatment plant operations or comparable facilities is required. Computer skills and experience with inventory management and Computerized Maintenance Management System software necessary.
