POSITION SUMMARY:

Position functions as a plant manager leadership support role for manufacturing operations of three production facilities that produce diverse open and enclosed small to mid-sized aluminum trailers. This position requires an experienced manufacturing or construction professional with solid leadership and communication skills. The position will be project-oriented and focus on top strategic improvement priorities and initiatives. Special focused improvement projects may include quality, safety, labor efficiency, general manufacturing process methods, materials, procurement, supply chain, logistics, shipping, and receiving.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides leadership and management support for multi-plant operations.

• Management and oversight of all manufacturing functional departments supporting key business plans, goals, and strategic initiatives.

• Leads as point person for high-priority improvement projects and initiatives.

• Supports operational budgets and plans and develops accountability at the appropriate levels.

• Evaluates and improves upon information accuracy, including the appropriate reporting of measurements against desired performance standards.

• Facilitates best practices process of engagement between plants, including implementation of agreed-upon and accepted means, methods, and standards.

• Assures a standardized accurate production scoring and reporting system that supports success at the plant level.

• When less than perfect operational conditions develop, reacts quickly to minimize impact and works aggressively towards an optimized balanced condition.

• Sustains a high level of active communication with executives and plant management supporting a well-informed team across the plants.

• Works closely with the senior management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and organizational structure/development plans aligned with meeting the operational growth objectives.

• Builds, coaches, motivates, and leads high-performance management and supervisory teams that thrive on winning with both small and large improvements.

• Coaches other management and team members when leadership development initiatives are recognized and planned.

• Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL:

• 10 or more years of leadership experience within a manufacturing or construction environment.

• Solid understanding of operational budgets with cost management experience.

• Excellent leadership and communication skills.

• Strategic and tactical operational plan development and a successful track record with implementations.

• Excellent MRP system and computer skills.

• Bachelor’s degree within a business, engineering, manufacturing or construction management discipline.

• Solid understanding of Lean manufacturing concepts.

• Must be able to travel periodically (30-50%)
