Materials Control Manager manages daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Control Manager coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations to improve operational efficiencies and workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Monitors operations and troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Control Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Control Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Control Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. We are looking for an Inventory Control Materials Lead to join our Supply Chain & Procurement team. You will facilitate internal factory logistics and inventory management. You will be working onsite at our Gigafactory located in Devens MA, and report into the Logistics Manager.
Role and Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee execution against all SOPs related to receipt, storage, and delivery of materials
- Drive organization and optimization of warehouse space
- Revamp and implement warehousing and inventory control systems
- Implement inventory control systems to minimize loss and maximize efficiency
- Must be proficient in the use of the inventory management system (ERP) and execute real time transactions such as material transfers, PO receipts, and cycle counting
- Lead continuous improvement opportunities within the warehouse and third-party warehouses, providing input into broader materials management improvement opportunities
- Oversee cycle count process to ensure accuracy and control of inventory volumes and accurate ERP transactions
- Manage and monitor the flow of goods from suppliers to the warehouse and inspection areas
- Interface with Supply Chain, Finance, Manufacturing and Engineering teams to improve workflows, share visibility of store levels, and physical movements of materials
- Implement document control including upload processes into the ERP
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in inventory management
- Knowledge of production environment warehouse, inventory, and logistics procedures
- Moderate knowledge of Microsoft Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets)
- Ability to lift and move packages in excess of 30 pounds

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, as well as relevant education or training and experience.
