    The Materials Development Engineer is responsible for the formulating, mixing, and testing of compounds within the development process and special process development assigns from Technology leaders. Other responsibilities include: (1) providing technical support to vendors, applications engineering, operations (Manufacturing & QC), sales and customers; (2) industry standards reviews / committee participation assignments from management.

     

     

    • Responsible for formulating, compounding, mixing, and testing of developmental rubber and plastic compounds.

     

    • Responsible for the creation of lab reports and providing analysis of testing results.

     

    • Diagnosis of manufacturing problems as they relate to machinery, materials, processes, and testing; identifies and implements appropriate corrective actions.

     

    • Assists in special projects and requests from other sections of the business. In example, but not limited to, the planning and executing of DOE’s, performing machine maintenance and/or modification, designing and coordinating the manufacture of custom testing apparatuses, establishing new processes for product platforms in the early stages of development.

     

    • Attends technical conferences to keep abreast of new developments in materials, mixing, testing, and processing. Attend committee meetings and perform committee duties as assigned by management.

     

    • Maintains and fosters relationships with suppliers to stay informed on upcoming changes and challenges to our supply chain.

     

    • Resolve issues in a manner consistent with company mission, values, and objectives.

     

    • Coordinates capital equipment improvements. Conducts investigations in order to recommend, justify and implement capital projects.

     

    • Provides liaison between Research and Development, the manufacturing organization, and Application Engineering in order to coordinate cost reductions, new process implementations, material changes and new product introductions.
