Mechanical Engineering Manager manages the design and analysis of mechanical components and systems to meet specified requirements and standards. Provides technical direction to team members in designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems or components. Being a Mechanical Engineering Manager utilizes CAD software and other design and modeling tools to plan, develop, and improve mechanical parts or components. Oversees prototype testing to evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical systems and reviews data and analysis to develop improvements. Additionally, Mechanical Engineering Manager manages engineering projects through their entire lifecycle, including cost and requirement analysis, scheduling, and coordinating activities with stakeholders. Establishes programs to support training, process improvements, and best practices and protocols. Leads initiatives with other departments to identify potential products and projects. Stays abreast of new technologies and processes and implements changes to improve the organization's mechanical engineering capabilities. Requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Typically reports to a director. The Mechanical Engineering Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Mechanical Engineering Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Presco seeks an experienced Director of Mechanical Engineering with business skills to participate in our management team. On the technical side, mechanics are the focus along with significant involvement in thermal management and electronics packaging. On the business side, technical expertise is critical to the process of vetting and closing new engineering contract opportunities. Duties will include customer first contact, architecture development and proposal generation. Internally, we need a solid team leader with skills in project management and personnel leadership.

    Requirements

    Cross-functional project management of small interdisciplinary teams

    Ability to generate well-written proposals and technical documentation.

    Use SolidWorks to design mechanical systems comprising sheet metal, molded, machined, 3D printed and cast parts.

    Evaluate mechanical, optomechanical and electromechanical systems by designing and conducting testing, applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.

    Confirm system and product capabilities by developing testing methods

    Develop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components

    Follow engineering standards and best practices to support project objectives

    Implement assigned tasks on a timely basis in a fast-paced environment

    Good organizational and problem-solving skills
