Job Title: Seasonal Visitor Services Associate

SUPERVISED BY: Director of Visitor Services

B. POSITION SUMMARY: Visitor Services Associate is responsible for receiving any individual guests, as well as any scheduled groups; promoting, selling, and answering questions about museum district memberships; assisting with restocking and inventory of merchandise, and maintaining the appearance of the museum store.

Position is May - September part time. Shifts are Sunday afternoons, Mondays and Thursday evenings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Greets, directs, and assists public during museum district experience.
• Explains the different options for admission and memberships.
• Gives the guest a brief explanation of the building and exhibits.
• Answer and direct phone calls as a backup to appropriate departments.
• Opens/closes museum checking all exhibits and notifying appropriate staff of problems.
• Maintains Museum Store.
• Restocks merchandise as needed.
• Performs light cleaning/dusting of merchandise areas.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Education, Experience and Training: The minimum formal education of the Visitor Services Associate is a high school diploma or equivalent. One to three years of experience with retail work, merchandising, Point of Sale use, and/or administrative duties is highly desired.
• Must have valid driver's license.
• Physical Requirements and Demands: Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
• Mental Demands: This employee must be a person who pays attention to details, who can work with a wide variety of people, and who is cooperative and flexible to respond to changing priorities.
• Basic computer skills including but not limited to Outlook, Word and Excel.
• WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment has excellent lighting and ventilation with occasional temperature fluctuations. There are odors when certain programs are conducted or during exhibition construction.
• EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS: The Visitor Services Associate must frequently use a computerized point of sales register, telephone, and occasionally small hand tools. A vacuum cleaner may be used on occasion.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $10.00 - $11.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 per week

Schedule:

• Day shift
• Evening shift
• Every weekend
