JOB DESCRIPTION: Resident Assistant Supervisor (Supportive Housing Program)
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Manager, Supportive Housing
POSITION SUPERVISED: Resident Assistants
QUALIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS:
1) High School Diploma or Equivalent;
2) Valid Ohio Driver’s License with less than Four Points;
3) Excellent oral and written communication skills;
4) Computer competency;
5) Flexible work hours;
6) Willingness to work with a team of staff members to implement program activities.
7) Supervisory experience preferred.
BASIC FUNCTION: The Resident Assistant (RA) Supervisor oversees and directs the work of RAs. They also provides guidance and support for all clients within Stella Maris’ supportive housing program, insuring that the house provides a safe, stable recovery environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Ensure that the program activities are consistent with the mission, vision and values of Stella Maris, Inc.
2. Schedules RAs to work and ensures that there is the appropriate staff coverage required for each shift.
3. Trains the RAs to do their required tasks and monitors their performance level on an ongoing basis to make sure that performance is adequate and meets requirements.
4. May also oversee all client activities during assigned shift and provide clients with support and guidance.
5. Upholds the Therapeutic Community (TC) model of care and serve as a “rational authority” at all times.

7. Either individually or through the scheduled RAs on duty, enforces curfew and quiet hour policies
8. Either individually or through the scheduled RAs on duty, oversees assigned client chores and provide constructive feedback.
9. Administers drug screen testing for residents and other clients of Stella Maris as indicated by current policies.
10. May inspect clients returning from appointments outside of the agency.
11. Monitors client medications and document each client’s use of medications.
12. Responds to medical and other emergencies and notifies appropriate administrative staff.
13. May log all client admissions and discharges, including the client’s address and phone numbers.
14. Documents all services provided to clients.
15. Document any client incidents in the Resident Assistant’s Log and complete appropriate Incident Report Forms.
16. Either individually or through the RAs on duty, documents phone calls for clients and convey messages left for the clients.
17. May monitor phone calls placed by clients using the RA office telephone.
18. May conduct searches of all clients and their possessions upon return from passes allowing them to be outside of the facility.
19. Conducts random searches of client rooms. (An average of three random searches per week, conducted at shift change so two staff are present.)
20. Conducts a walk-through of all of Stella Maris’ facilities with one of the Detox Unit staff at the end of the day to insure that all of the facilities are secure.
21. May assign RAs to do so or assist in transporting clients to appointments outside of the facility.
22. Attend either AM or PM TC community meetings.
23. Communicate with staff members, visitors and clients in a respectful and professional manner at all times.
24. Uphold client rights and insure client confidentiality
25. Operate and maintain program vehicle as instructed by supervisor.
26. Prepare requisitions of supplies as needed.
27. Ability to work cooperatively with other staff/disciplines as part of an interdisciplinary team.
28. Creates monthly Resident Assistant work schedule to ensure appropriate and required staff coverage in the Supportive Housing facility.
29. Complete monthly RA peer reviews.
30. Complete annual RA performance evaluations.
31. Available to the Supportive Housing staff after hours to address significant concerns and to provide directives and/or help problem solve.
32. Complete all required agency annual compliance training.
33. Uphold client confidentiality.
