Position Summary:

Under direction of the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer Assistant provides support to the Purchasing Department, in accordance with company policies and procedures. The Buyer Assistant compiles information and records to prepare purchase orders for the procurement of materials and other goods. Searches inventory records or shop to determine if material on hand is sufficient quantity. Communicates with vendors, suppliers and other internal and external customers involved in the materials management program.

Essential Functions of the Job:

• Enter data for purchase orders into the computer system and assist with PO maintenance.

• Send PO's to suppliers with follow up to verify receipt of purchase orders, confirming pricing and receipt date to be within the demand requirement.

• Send forecasts and request for quotations to suppliers with follow up to confirm receipt of quotation, enter data for quotes into the system and work with buyers as needed.

• Enter data to update pricing and Item Master maintenance.

• Work closely with Buyers to assist with daily tasks as needed.

• Complete and maintain all required supplier records, documentation using Excel, Outlook and JDE operating systems.
