Mixer operates and tends machines that mix materials or ingredients used for production processes or manually mix ingredients. Loads materials into mixing equipment and ensures results comply with specified batch requirements. Being a Mixer may utilize tools, devices or heavy equipment to move materials from inventory to production area. Documents operational information as required. Additionally, Mixer cleans and sanitizes processing equipment, tanks, filters, pipes, lines, and pumps. Follows hazardous material handling and personal protective equipment requirements, if applicable. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Mixer works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. We are looking for a Mixer/Floater (when not working in the mixing area, will be assigned to help in other areas.) The shift we have an opening for works approximately four 12-hour shifts per week (6 pm to 6am).
Summary
The Mixer Operator is responsible for the entire dough mixing process. Following food safety, quality, and food regulatory requirements are critical when producing our product.
In accordance with all company policies, the essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Follow all company policies including: GMPs, HACCPs, safety procedures, and product quality standards.
2. Acquire a strong understanding of the dough mixing process and its relation to the quality of the finished product.
3. Focus on the correct preparation of dough batches: following recipes, scaling ingredients carefully, following mixing procedures, adjusting control set points, and monitoring ingredient metering and dough temperatures.
4. Focus on following the dough schedule: staging of ingredients, start times, and changeover times.
5. The completion of accurate record keeping.
6. Keep the mixer area clean and safe.
7. The back-up for this position is the Scaler
8. Specific work instructions are detailed during training.
Secondary Duties
1. Assist in the training of new mixing team members.
2. Communicate and cooperate with other team members.
3. Communicate and cooperate with incoming mixing team.
Qualifications
Physical Demands
Must be able to stand for 12 hours and lift 50 lbs.
Must be able to climb and ascend stairs.
Must be able to tolerate high temperatures and humidity.
Work Environment
Conditions in the proof box are 90-110 degrees with a humidity level of 60-80%.
PPE including safety glasses, and slip-resistant footwear are required.
