A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE DIRECTOR OF NETWORK ENGINEERING
As our Director of Network Engineering, you oversee the operation and management of our networking team. This includes high-level network design and strategy as well as establishing operational policies that determine service delivery metrics or troubleshooting. Your role is extremely valuable, as you are directly responsible for managing all aspects of delivering our high-performance telephone and internet service to our valued business clients. You keep informed of new developments and trends, making recommendations to senior management as appropriate.
You also establish technology standards and methods for evaluating the performance of our services. Expertly, you survey new and emerging technologies, prepare ROI analyses for management review, and develop plans for the acquisition and installation of equipment and software. You also direct the work of the networking staff. This includes overseeing their training as well as making recommendations about their hiring, termination, and advancement. As someone who oversees high-level IT projects, allocations, budgeting, and staff management, you make sure to communicate effectively with all involved parties.
