- JOB SUMMARYThe Nurse Practitioner – Ambulatory Services is involved in all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations. He/She may work in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can perform independently or as part of a treatment team. Generally, the Nurse Practitioner – Ambulatory Services performs important tasks such as educating patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments. He/she may also conduct physicals, order tests, prescribe medications per state and federal law, and may serve as a patient's primary healthcare provider.
- EDUCATION
- Graduate of a Graduate School of Nursing.
- LICENSURE
- Valid license as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of West Virginia.
- EXPERIENCE
- Prefer minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility/clinic in area of specialty.
- CERTIFICATION
- Must have met certification requirements as mandated by West Virginia state regulation and the West Virginia Board of Nursing.
- Healthcare BLS validation required within 60 days of employment, with revalidation per AHA guidelines thereafter; ACLS preferred.
- COMPUTER/TYPING/MATH SKILLS
- Standard office and medical equipment with emphasis on electronic health records, as well as various clinical equipment that may be used to carry out the duties of the position.
- Excellent computer skills are necessary to perform various job duties in the clinical area.
- JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge:
- Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures.
- Knowledge of specific tasks related to particular medical practice.
- Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
- Knowledge of federal, state and other regulations affecting physician assistants.
- Skills:
- Skill in performing nursing and nurse practitioner responsibilities appropriately.
- Skill in managing time, maintaining timely patient and process flow.
- Skill intact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
- Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
- Abilities:
- Ability to learn and retain information and work independently.
- Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
- Ability to not deviate from scope of practice allowed by state/federal regulation
