Nutrition Director directs and oversees all aspects of an organization's or institution's nutrition guidelines and initiatives. RD Nutrition Consultants is seeking a full-time Outpatient dietitian.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30-pm
Compensation: $33.00-$43.00/hr
Position is a short term 13 weeks
OUTPATIENT DIETITIAN
BASIC FUNCTION / SCOPE:
The Dietitian will serve as the RDNC representative in the area of nutritional care, providing remote clinical nutrition and counseling services to patients with disease processes while they are in the hospital. The RD will collaborate with physicians, nurses and food service staff to fulfill the hospitals clinical nutrition requirements. The Dietitian will be responsible for fulfilling nutrition consults written by hospital staff, which require nutritional management and impact on nutritional status. The dietitian is responsible for developing assessment techniques and education protocols and programs that are necessary for providing comprehensive nutritional care for patients who may have complex nutritional and/or psychosocial problems that impact on adherence to prescribed dietary regimens. The Dietitian is also responsible for providing professional guidance and education in nutritional management and diet counseling of outpatients to physicians, allied health professionals. May also oversee and work in collaboration with dietetic students, and entry-level dietitians.

~ Assists Wellness Director with documentation of outpatient nutrition office
performance plan.
The Dietitian provides diet counseling and nutrition care services to outpatients whose disorders/diseases require complex dietary management. The fact that the patients are not located in a controlled medical center environment serves to complicate this process, requiring the dietitian to utilize unique approaches to achieve adherence. Conducts in-depth diet history with patients and/or caregivers regarding food habits, preferences, ethnic or cultural background, economic status, physical limitations, and lifestyle habits which may impact on food intake or ability to adhere to nutritional care plan. Reviews medical record and interviews patient to evaluate anthropometric data, laboratory parameters, drug-nutrient interactions, and diet counseling needs. Utilizes knowledge of pathopysiology of multiple disease states, knowledge of digestion and metabolism of nutrients, and assessment of nutritional status to develop a realistic individualized dietary plan for the patient. Implements appropriate dietary regimes for individual outpatient/family/caregivers upon consult from physicians, physician assistants or nurse practitioners; alters diet prescriptions in consultation with physician, when indicated. Records results of nutritional assessments and diet counseling in the medical record, as well as progress on follow-up visits. *
Serves on multidisciplinary treatment team(s) composed of physicians, nurses, social workers, and other allied health team members. *
Provides and participates in educational programs such as medical conferences, classes, seminars, and workshops. The outpatient dietitian provides support, expertise, and serves as consultant to other dietitians and health team members regarding diet counseling and nutritional management of outpatients. *
