Occupational Therapy Director directs the programs and staff of the occupational therapy department. Sets and implements guidelines for occupational therapy programs. Being an Occupational Therapy Director monitors patient progress and treatment plans. May require an advanced degree. Additionally, Occupational Therapy Director typically reports to top management. The Occupational Therapy Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. This is a skilled paraprofessional position involving responsibility for the application of treatment procedures to residents to remedy or maintain the ability to cope with their environment. The work is performed under the general supervision of the director who evaluates the resident, develops the treatment plan, and designates treatment procedures to be followed. Progress and observations are reported to the director who modifies the treatment to promote maximum rehabilitative and restorative measures. Performs other tasks as required.
