    JOB SUMMARY: The Operations Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day activities within Northern Laundry Services. This role ensures efficient operations, maintains quality standards, and supervises a team of employees. 

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Provide leadership within the laundry operations team, ensuring alignment with the mission, vision, and values of NLS
    • Oversee the financial aspects of Northern Laundry's operations, including daily and monthly reconciliations, monitoring budgets, cost control, and financial reporting
    • Collaborate with General Manager to ensure operational priorities align with Doyon, Limited's strategic plans
    • Develop and implement short-term goals and objectives to optimize laundry operations efficiency
    • Review and update operational policies and procedures to improve quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness
    • Supervise and manage the recruitment, retention, and performance of laundry staff
    • Plan and coordinate work schedules, assignments, and resource allocation to meet production or service goals
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and make recommendations to enhance efficiency and productivity
    • Maintain laundry equipment and supplies and coordinate maintenance and repair activities
    • Monitor and optimize daily operations to maximize efficiency and productivity
    • Address operational challenges and resolve issues that may arise during daily activities
    • Oversee laundry tasks, such as receiving, washing, drying, packaging, and delivery, to ensure uninterrupted business operations
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies
    • Promote ethical behavior, professionalism, and integrity among laundry team members
    • Collaborate with the General Manager to review achievements and adjust goals or objectives as needed
    • Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and communicate operational metrics to management
    • Assist with sorting, washing, drying, folding, and packaging laundry as needed
    • Assist with pick-up and delivery service as needed
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the General Manager

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High-school diploma
    • Minimum 5 years of administrative experience with progressive responsibility
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in business management, including planning and financial oversight
    • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug tests
    • Must have a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska
    • Clean Driver Record (Applicants must provide a current copy of their driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles)
    • Must be able to gain access to military installations in Alaska

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in business
    • Project management professional certification or other relevant license or certification

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT:  The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where, under certain areas, require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. For the most part, ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. This position requires extensive travel and all associated non-work hour meetings, receptions, dinners and other related sales and operational activities.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Walking primarily on a level surface is required for a period of time throughout the day.
