ABOUT THE ROLE
This position is responsible for providing master data management (MDM) expertise and monitoring of critical data for corporate programs, other government agencies and community stakeholders. The position is also responsible for ensuring the integrity, quality, security, and sustainability of critical data across systems, supporting and advancing data governance and data quality programs and identifying strategies to maximize the value of data for the organization. This position will support the Region’s ERP transformation initiative by helping to establish a strong foundation for future projects.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Collaborates with stakeholders and follows the corporate strategic leadership, planning and direction related to this function.
- Identifies opportunities to develop MDM solutions and processes in line with corporate architectural and technology standards.
- Provides technical expertise on MDM solution development and projects including requirement gathering, process mapping, design, application development, data migration, integration, testing, training, and documentation.
- Ensures operations and maintenance activities pertaining to the corporate master data and analytics platform are completed.
- Supports the implementation of a data governance framework and data governance policies by working collaboratively with internal partners and Data Stewards in various roles across the organization and develops procedures to maintain data integrity.
- Establish the monitoring of the health and status of critical data and analyses data usage patterns and trends to recommend enhancements to support decision-making and process improvements.
- Provides broad data and analytics expertise in areas such as finance, human resources, asset management and geospatial.
- Leads the integration of MDM concepts and practices into data and business processes.
- Advances data processing rigour and automation in support of corporate data acquisitions, critical data and systems integration and maintenance requirements.
- Develops custom data products conforming to specifications required of business applications.
- Reviews and applies template data models and advances adherence to applicable data standards.
- Researches and analyses business processes to identity opportunities for process redesign, automation, or other improvements.
- Supports departmental applications through technology upgrades or other modernization efforts.
- Designs and develops dashboards, architectural diagrams, data visualizations and data stories, and data products.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Successful completion of a College Diploma in Computer Information, Geomatics, Information Technology, or related field, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience providing project implementation analysis and support in data management systems, data integrity and security as it relates to various technology systems and application development and spatial data creation.
- Demonstrated experience managing data with an appreciation of data management principles.
- Demonstrated knowledge of technology industry and related systems and applications.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of systems development life cycle processes using databases and programming languages.
- Experience in manipulating and analyzing data using relevant applications.
- Ability to research, document, and present technical information.
- Ability to analyze and resolve technical problems.
- Experience in project management and leading project teams.
- Knowledge of trends in the use of current technology as it relates to data management systems.
- Strong analytical skills to analyze user requirements identify issues and to design, develop and implement applications and recommend solutions.
