Packaging Machine Operator sets up and operates a packaging machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Fills, secures, and labels containers according to company and/or customer specifications. Being a Packaging Machine Operator verifies goods packaged against package invoices. Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery. Additionally, Packaging Machine Operator adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion. Documents inventory number and weight, and organizes packages. May make minor repairs to packaging equipment as needed. May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Packaging Machine Operator works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Responsibilities / Skills- Minimum 3 years of experience in a job shop environment.
- Self-starter; able to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail and follow-through while maintaining a safe, clean and organized workspace.
- Operate CNC Mills to produce parts meeting specifications as tight as ±.0005” on materials including aluminum, stainless steel, plastics, titanium, etc.
- Work from job travelers, manufacturing drawings, tool drawings and sketches with ability to read and interpret specifications and inspection instructions to determine product conformance.
- Check dimensions and quality of work using optical comparators, indicators, micrometers, calipers, pitch micrometers, bore gages, etc.
- Must have a thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances.
- Maintain condition of machines, performing such work as clean, lubricate, adjust, etc.
- Clean scrap and chips from machine and separate and identify work and scrap.
- Must be able to interact and communicate with coworkers at all levels of the organization.
