Paralegal Supervisor supervises the paralegal team and implements systems and processes utilized to conduct research and produce legal documents. Coordinates the preparation of legal documents and tracks projects to ensure the work is completed accurately and on time. Being a Paralegal Supervisor organizes documents into formal report and proofs for attorneys. Trains paralegals to effectively utilize databases and legal libraries to conduct research. Additionally, Paralegal Supervisor typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Paralegal Certification. Typically reports to a manager. The Paralegal Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Paralegal Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.     The Paralegal Specialist provides legal and administrative support in areas like family law, international law, contract law, defense legal services, and judicial legal services.

    Job Duties

    • Provide legal documents in courts-martial and other military justice matters
    • Provide assistance in legal affairs, such as power of attorney, wills, and separation decrees

    Helpful Skills

    • Ability to supervise those in a command
    • Provide technical guidance to subordinates
    • Maintain law / administrative library
    • Monitor and review actions for accuracy

    Your training will enable you to interview witnesses, research court decisions and Army regulations, process legal claims and appeals, and prepare records of hearings, investigations, courts-martial, and courts of inquiry.

    By joining the Army National Guard, you will be preparing yourself for a rewarding civilian career. In the civilian world, Paralegal Specialists may be referred to as legal assistants, clerks, paralegal assistants, and court clerks or recorders.

    Job training for a Paralegal Specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 10 weeks of Advanced Individual Training and on-the-job instruction.

    Requirements
