Position: Patient Account Representative: Posting
Location: Columbus, NC
St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, NC is currently seeking to add a new teammate to serve as a customer service representative in our patient financial services department.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for posting all payments and adjustments in manual or electronic formats on a daily basis. Posts patient charges as necessary.
Ensures all required daily reports are processed in a timely fashion and daily deposits balance. Works closely with PFS Management and Accounting to resolve any outstanding posting issues.
Independently follows through with Information Technology and Patient Accounting Specialist to ensure concerns regarding electronic posting edits work properly, notifying Management promptly and in a professional manner of any unresolved issues.
Assists patients with researching payment posting questions and the processing of payments made in person. Researches payments for proper posting and underpayments/overpayments.
Responsible for work queues as assigned.
Maintains confidentiality, follows all HIPAA and compliance guidelines.
Excellence in customer service for internal and external customers is always required.
Works effectively with team, maintains positive attitude and promotes common working goals with Patient Accounting, Patient Access, Atrium Health and St Luke’s Hospital co-workers.
Must be willing to demonstrate flexibility with duties as direct by PFS manager.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
High School Diploma required. Previous experience in accounting, data entry, hospital financial services or a medical office environment preferred. Knowledge of 1500 and UB claims, payment processing, electronic payment posting formats, especially Medicare and Medicaid remits is desired. Applicants must have skills in using the computer, e-mail, Microsoft Word and Excel programs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a high level of judgement, initiative and resourcefulness when dealing with internal and external customers is required. Epic experience is preferred, but not required.
