Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, distribution and reconciliation of payroll and the administration of the payroll system. Reviews the computation of pay and associated deductions for accuracy. Being a Payroll Administrator maintains up-to-date knowledge of city, state, provincial, local, and federal legislation affecting payroll; understands and follows applicable provisions. Prepares required tax filings and other reporting. Additionally, Payroll Administrator may coordinate payroll processing with an outside service provider. Responds to and resolves any inquiries regarding paychecks or payroll reporting. Ensures payroll issues are escalated and resolved promptly. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Payroll Administrator work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     SUMMARY OF POSITION:

    Plan, manage, or coordinate the Payroll operations within the organization. Manages the work efforts of supervisors and/or individual contributors. Makes decisions based on unit objectives, as well as company policies and procedures.

    • Plan, organize, or manage the work of subordinate staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements.
    • Responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals and pay reviews for staff members.
    • Monitor operations to ensure that staff members comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, union contracts, environmental policies, or government regulations.
    • Serve as contact persons for all workers within assigned territories.
    • Implement schedule or policy changes.
    • Monitor spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets.
    • Promote safe work activities.
    • Prepare management recommendations.
    • Manage or coordinate the activities of the department to obtain use of equipment, facilities, or human resources.
    • Analyze expenditures and other financial information to develop plans, policies, or budgets.
    • Collaborate with other managers or staff members to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, or objectives.
    • Conduct employee training sessions.

    Recommend or authorize capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment or property to increase efficiency and services of the department.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

    • Bachelor's Degree required.
    • Five (5) years of related experience required.
