Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our team. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for accurately coding and billing medical procedures and services. Your role will involve working with medical records, insurance companies, and patients to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement. If you have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and billing processes, we encourage you to apply. Knowledge in Urology billing is highly desired.
Duties:
- Review and analyze medical records to accurately assign codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services using ICD-10 and other coding systems. That being said, we usually code routine visits & procedues. So reviewing them & correcting under/over coding is requested.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for medical procedures
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by mail
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, identifying and resolving billing issues
- Communicate with insurance companies to resolve claim discrepancies or obtain additional information
- Answer patient inquiries regarding billing statements and insurance coverage
- Maintain accurate documentation of all billing activities in the electronic medical records system
- Stay updated on changes in Urology coding guidelines, reimbursement policies, and industry regulations
- Assist & advise on Contracts rates negotiations with insurance companies.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in Urology billing or related field preferred
- Proficiency in medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10), and billing processes
- Knowledge of medical collection practices and procedures
- Familiarity with medical office software systems. We currently use Practice Fusion (e.g., electronic health records)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding is a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in medical coding is preferred
