Job Summary:

The Controller is responsible for overseeing the preparation of the Company’s financial statements.  This position oversees the people responsible for all areas of the accounting department and their functions including financial reporting and account analysis, payroll including employee expense reimbursements, and overall business planning and expense management.

Essential Functions:

            Business

• Possess the necessary accounting knowledge to lead the department, and be able to apply it to the day to day activities of the company.
• Serve as a point of contact with our outside accounting firm related to matters of accounting and tax needs of the company.
• Coordinate special projects as requested by Senior Management. 
• Oversee the filing of all monthly and quarterly tax returns of the company. 

People

• Collaborate with the CFO, VP of Finance, Director of Finance, and the Office Manager to ensure a productive work environment. 
• Supervise accounting staff and give direction as needed to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.
• Performance manage staff and complete annual performance evaluations for all direct reports.
• Coordinate training of staff and related departments as needed to ensure professional development of staff.
• Willingness to work with other managers to resolve issues and conflicts

Self-Organization

• Strong Analytical skills and willingness to research topics when necessary knowledge is not currently available. 
• Must have ability to meet deadlines and organize work tasks to ensure timely completion of all reportable items.
• Develop, implement and streamline procedures to review the work of each direct report to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of their work.

Required Skills:

• 5-7 years experience in public accounting, CPA preferred. 
• Bachelor’s Degree/Master’s Degree in Accounting preferred
• Strong written communication skills
• Strong presence and confidence when communicating verbally in a group setting
• High sense of urgency and consistent follow-up skills 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, and ADP.
