The Police Officer is responsible for responding to calls, taking necessary action at the scene of crime or disturbance, conducting investigations, making arrests, testifying in court, and completing reports/forms and routine paperwork. Responsible for patrolling an assigned area to prevent and discover crime and to enforce regulations. Being a Police Officer typically reports to a Police Sergeant. Requires an associate's degree in criminal justice and/or additional certifications and at least 12 to 18 months of law enforcement experience. Working as a Police Officer typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.   • Duties

    • Patrol the City to detect and deter crime.
    • Interact with citizens to promote community relations.
    • Respond to calls for service.
    • Prepare essential paperwork as it pertains to your duty shift.

    Qualifications

    • Must be high school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent, Bachelor Degree is preferred(not required).
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess a valid driver's license.
    • Must meet P.O.S.T. certification requirements and possess a valid certificate by date of appointment.
    • Have previous Police Officer experience 10 years(not required).
    • Be willing to work all shifts and fill in on short notice.

    Salary

    • Starting pay $25.90 hour for part-time ( $1.00 hour differential for overnight hours), overtime pay for select holidays.
    • Uniform and Equipment provided by the Department.
    • Standard training provided and paid for by the Department.
