    ***POSITION OPEN UNTIL FILLED*** JOB TITLE: Behavioral Health Therapist Denver Indian Health and Family Services seeks licensed child and family Behavioral Health Clinician. Therapist provides diagnostic evaluations and subsequent office and community-based outpatient psychotherapy utilizing individual, family, marital and group modalities. Must possess extensive knowledge of American Indian culture or have experience working with AI/AN communities. Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field along with licensure as an LPC/ LCSW/ LMFT and a CACII/CACIII/LAC are required. 3 years of post-licensure clinical experience and experience providing trauma-informed interventions strongly preferred. Salary range is 45-50k depending upon experience. Excellent benefits package. Duties: General Objectives Under general supervision, the Behavioral Health Therapist provides mental health and substance abuse prevention, intervention, and aftercare services to American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) children, youth and families that are eligible to receive counseling services through Denver Indian Health and Family Services (DIHFS). The Behavioral Health Therapist reports directly to the Behavioral Health Program Manager. The Behavioral Health Therapist is responsible for evaluating, assessing, and diagnosing clients and provision of individual, couples, group, and family therapy, according to individualized treatment plans developed in coordination with agency, community treatment teams, and the client(s). Evidence and culture based services, provided by the Behavioral Health Therapist, support the psychological well-being and self-sufficiency of our clients. The clinician will provide services at DIHFS offices and in a variety of community settings. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES 1. Ability to provide mental health assessments and diagnoses and to develop effective treatment plans in partnership with families and other internal and external team members. 2. Ability to provide prevention and psychotherapeutic interventions, for children, adults, couples, families and groups; and provide referrals to external outpatient and residential services. Ability to document and bill for all aspects of a client’s treatment from intake summary through discharge summary and fully utilize the organization’s scheduling, documentation protocols, and electronic health records systems. 3. Ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary treatment team. 4. Facilitates behavioral health related systems improvement efforts. 5. Has strong written/oral communication skills with diverse populations including; families, team Members, agency partners, and the public. 6. Adheres to DIHFS Behavioral Health policies and participates in quality assurance procedures. 7. Contributes to the professional reputation of the agency. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Master’s degree in one of the following areas: counseling, social work, psychology, or marriage and family therapy. • Appropriate professional Licensure (Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) and ability to supervise master’s level interns. • Must be familiar with DSM V diagnostic system and be able to provide appropriate diagnosis. • Professional certification as a Certified Addictions Counselor II/III or LAC. • Accredited Medicaid provider in the state of Colorado, or ability to secure this in 3 months. Ability to bill Medicaid and 3rd party insurance and provide reports required by DIHFS and behavioral health funders. • Knowledge of systems theory and culturally responsive intervention strategies. • Must possess extensive knowledge of American Indian culture or have experience working with AI/AN communities. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Three or more years post licensure experience • Experience with electronic health records • Experience in integrated primary care and behavioral health environment • Training in motivational interviewing and trauma-informed psychotherapy interventions. The position requires following allocation of time: 75% direct intervention and related documentation, 10% coordinating residential treatment services, 5% behavioral health systems improvement, and 10% other duties as assigned. Limited travel up to 5% is required. Valid driver’s license and proof of professional liability insurance is required. SCOPE OF AUTHORITY: Some precedents and/or procedures exist. Expected to handle different and specialized situations in department or functional area. Plans own work and the work of others to meet defined work plans and objectives. Work is typically reviewed at completion. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Only direct supervision duties of the Behavioral Health Therapist are Master’s level interns. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a normal office environment working with standard office equipment (such as phone, fax, and personal computer). Light physical activity required by handling objects up to twenty (20) pounds occasionally and/or up to ten (10) pounds frequently. Must be able to walk unassisted to inspect facilities and meet with residents and other employees on a daily basis. Compensation Competitive salary based upon experience. Excellent benefits.
