Job Brief

The Director, Wholesale Fuel Development is responsible for is developing potential wholesale fuel customers with carriers, fleet partners that have bulk terminals, other suppliers, independent operators, and TA’s current and potential franchisees. They will refine TA’s wholesale fuel supply program with the intent to wholesale ULSD, biodiesel blend, renewable diesel, biodiesel, DEF, and gasoline (collectively “fuel”). The Director will build relationships with existing wholesale and potential wholesale customers to help them maximize their margin from fuel sales. In the case of franchisees, creating a cost/price environment where franchisees can honor TA discounts to fleet customers

Additionally, this individual will act as the primary liaison and administrator with new franchisees to establish their initial and ongoing pricing with fleets and aggregators. They will continue to develop the position as new forms of “fuel” present themselves (CNG, LNG, EV, hydrogen, etc.)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Create a program that enables TA to compete for short-term and long-term fuel supply agreements that offer upfront monies, equipment, and branding and signage assistance
• Create a series of boilerplate agreements in cooperation and approval in conjunction with TA’s Legal Department
• Ensure that the customer has flawless product and delivery after entering into a fuel supply agreement
• Partner with the Fuel Supply teams to ensure products are available and deliveries are seamless
• Work with the Fuel Supply Team to quote on, coordinate, start-up and support fuel supply efforts
• Understand and, if applicable, refine TA’s franchise fuel supply program to maximize profit from fuel sales to franchisees, while enabling them to honor TA fleet discounts and profitability
• Incorporate biofuel to maximize business objectives for both the TA and customer as appropriate
• Incorporate diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) to maximize business objectives for both TA and customer as appropriate
• Work with customers to help them understand fuel margin calculation
• File electronic and hard copies of the supply agreements and related documents
• Track key dates and events for newly signed agreements and existing agreements
• Create event reminders for key dates and events for each supply agreement and related documents
• Administer applicable fuel supply information in TA’s annual franchise disclosure document (FDD) Updates
• Create monthly executive KPI reports
• Achieve agreed upon sales targets and outcomes within scheduled timeframe
• Work closely with Billing, Customer Service, Credit, Fuel Supply to resolve customer issues
• Negotiate terms and manage contract compliance and performance
• Assist in creating and implementing TA’s wholesale fuel business development plan
• Provide forecasting for new business and renewals
• Create a format so the Franchise Development Directors may adequately present applicable portions of the program to interested franchise candidates as part of their initial discussions
• Other special projects as necessary
