Black Hills State University seeks applicants to fill an Accounting Assistant position.
DUTIES: To adhere to and enforce the BOR policy regarding collection of tuition and fees. To be a liaison between the University and students by answering questions on tuition and fee charges, applying payments to student accounts, assisting with payment plans, and sending delinquent accounts to collections. Processes AR transactions by receipting the University department's revenue, balancing and closing cashier sessions and tuition sessions, and calling students to follow up on attendance and outstanding balances.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Generally accounting principles and practices, ability to manage cash collection and reconciliation of receipts with cash drawers, ability to understand a student's questions and concerns and then to respond professionally and assist with solutions, establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and representatives of other agencies and departments.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree with an emphasis in accounting is preferred or three or more years of experience in customer service, cash collection, and deposit preparation.
- Higher education accounting and Banner accounting experience are preferred.
