Due to the scope and needs of manufacturing operations, this position is an onsite-based position and is not eligible for remote work.
The Quality Assurance Technician will work out of our Brownwood Texas manufacturing facility, and report to the Quality Assurance Manager. The key responsibilities and duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
· Receive shift report from previous Quality Technician on any issues or look-outs from the previous shift
· Inspect meat slurry for expiration dates, sensorial defects, color and viscosity
· Perform First Article Checks which include the inspection of the bags, production lot codes, best buy dates, solochain LPs, and correct bag size usage
· Check production paperwork to ensure correct formulas are produced
· Communicate quality concerns with packaging operators and supervisors
· Check the quality of the bags to ensure there is no separation of the film and correct printing
· Perform packaging quality checks every 30 to 60 minutes on each production line. Packaging quality checks should include verification of printing of the lot code, weight of sealed bags, sealer temperatures, kibble size, color and verification of metal detection
· Knowledge of all Critical Control Points
· Inspect the transfer trailers for debris, mold, or holes. Notify supervisors of any issues that would not allow for safe sanitary transportation
· Inspect all tote sacks for holes and tote plaques. Tote plaques should be properly filled out with correct information
· Visual inspection of finished good pallets for acceptable release and transport
· Inspection of production machinery for cleanliness and proper function
· Maintain a clean and safe working area
· Stock gloves in each working area
· Adhere to all safety and GMP policies
· Continuous education on trending topics in the pet food industry
· Maintain and organization of the retain/shelf-life study room
· Successfully cross-trained in multiple areas
· Assist packaging associates in operational duties if necessary (Stacking, labeling, boxing)
· Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· High school, GED or equivalent
· Must be willing to submit a background check and pre-employment drug screening
· Must be eligible to work in the US
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· 2 to 3 years of experience in quality control, food safety or similar fields
· Bachelor’s degree preferred
· Strong computer and statistical analysis skills
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Ability to push, pull, carry, or lift up to 50 lbs.
· Ability to remain in a stationary position for up to 8 hours
· Ascend/descend a ladder or stairs daily
· Ability to operate a computer and other office technology
· Occasionally position self to access low spaces
· Ability to observe details at close range
· Must be able to relay accurate information via multiple communication vehicles including verbal and written mechanisms
· Must be able to work in extreme hot and cold temperatures

Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour
