Hiring for a Medical Records Clerk in the Greater Austin area.
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the daily processing and review of records that are requested in support of the Revenue Cycle department. As a medical records clerk you will also be responsible for timely follow-up on requests, communicating and working with the QAQR team, Compliance officer, Billing Director and/or Collections Manager. In this position you will be responsible for compiling, processing and maintaining record requests. This position is a hybrid position with travel at minimum of 2 times per week in the Greater Austin area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Responsibilities include, but not limited to)
- Responsible for reviewing and logging all requests received via ChartSwap, email, mail, fax, website and phone request.
- Review the records in question, document and forward to the QAQR department for review and approval to be released.
- Prepare and calculate the cost of requested records and provide the invoice to the requestor.
- File and maintain patient medical records in compliance with company policy.
- Scan, upload and notate medical record requests into the patient accounts
- Release medical records to authorized parties in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Responsible for incoming/outgoing phone calls in a courteous and professional manner and appropriately addressing their questions or concerns.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Travel to Georgetown post office to retrieve mail from PO Box followed by scanning, disbursing and check deposit at the Pflugerville station a minimum of 2 times a week.
Knowledge And Skills
- Attention to detail.
- Possess intermediate knowledge of medical terminology and ambulance coding preferred.
- Knowledge of computers and office equipment.
- Ability to maintain records and files.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Continuous focus on quality with the ability to review, analyze and interpret data.
- Experienced professional with outstanding time management skills.
Physical Requirements
- Primarily a remote position that will require travel as described above at a minimum of 2 times per week
- Minimum 2 years of experience performing medical billing, medical coding, verification or accounts receivable management.
