Job Summary: 

As an Outdoor Recreation Intern, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to guests and campers of South Haven Jellystone Park™. You will be tasked with the responsibility of implementing and supporting the daily activity program. As an Outdoor Recreation Intern, you will assist in planning, coordinating, and executing various activities and events for our organization. This role requires creativity, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work well with people of different backgrounds and ages. You will work closely with our Recreation Supervisor and Activity Director to provide support and assistance, as well as to help develop and implement new strategies for improving recreation processes and guest experience. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Provide a guest experience that aids in the enhancing of one’s stay. We like our team members to imagine themselves as; “Memory makers are WOW creators”. 
• Assist in the enhancement of our theme weekends by way of dressing in the theme for that week or decorating the Rec Center for the theme of the week. 
• Assist in organizing and implementing activities and events, such as games, competitions, and other recreational activities. 
• Work with our bears-Yogi Bear, Cindy Bear, and Boo Boo, along with Ranger Smith, all the while maintaining the illusion that they are “real” for our guests. 
• Collaborate with the activity team to research and select activities that align with the company's values and goals. 
• Collaborate with other departments and team members to plan and execute events effectively and efficiently. 
• Prepare materials, equipment, and other resources necessary for activities and events. 
• Help with setup, breakdown, and cleanup of equipment and supplies for programs and events. 
• Assist in managing and supervising guest participants during activities and events to ensure their safety and enjoyment. 
• Collect and analyze feedback from participants to improve future activities and events. 
• Maintain accurate records of event details, including attendance, and feedback. 
• Assist in developing and implementing marketing and promotion strategies to attract participants and promote activities and events within the resort. 

• Assist with the implementation of new recreation processes and strategies. 
• Handle guest complaints or issues and escalate them to the appropriate person as necessary. 
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor or Activities Director. 

Requirements: 

• Currently enrolled in a college program with an emphasis in education, or early childhood development or another related field. 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once. 
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to work well in a team environment. 
• Professional demeanor and appearance. 
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. 
• A passion for activities and outdoor recreation. 
• Basic computer skills. 
• The ability to assist our bears, costume cleaning, and maintain the illusion that they are “real”. 
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds. 
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
