    Performs work supervising staff, planning daily activities for the various recreation and youth programs, ensuring safety protocols and rules are being followed, enrolling participants into programs, assisting in budget preparation and maintenance, and related work as apparent or assigned.

    Work is performed under the supervision of the Recreation Fitness Manager.

    Supervision exercised over assigned staff.

    Essential Functions

    • Plans and supervises recreation and youth programs and seasonal staff; schedules the use of facilities for programs and ensures their safe usage; ensures adequate supervision and oversight of programs; orders equipment, supplies, and other items for programs.
    • Recruit, hire, schedule, evaluate, train, direct, and discipline assigned staff. Maintains high visibility and remains accessible to the public.
    • Greets visitors; answers telephone and emails; receives inquiries, complaints, and service requests and resolves them within the framework of established policies and procedures or forwards them to the appropriate party for disposition; assists participants with the completion of standardized forms or documents; maintains records and files.
    • Promotes all youth programming, including oversight of the registration process and the marketing of programs; creates professional printed materials, including flyers and brochures; displays and distributes program signs and flyers; sends direct mail and e-mail with program information to current and past program participants.
    • Responsible for summer day camp, special events, and general recreation programs on evenings and weekends.
    • Monitors the day-to-day operations of programs and events, including making site visits, handling and resolving complaints, and ensuring that programs and events have required materials and supplies.
    • Ensures the safety and well-being of all program participants; observes patron and coach participation during programs to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and rules.
    • Ensures the timely payment of programs; ensures accurate payments are processed.
    • Assists in preparing and developing program budgets.
    • Facility coordination and program development.
    • All other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    High School or GED and one to three years of experience with customer service and program development in a recreation environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.


    Pay ranges from $18.36 per hour up to $25.70 per hour, plus a generous benefit package.
