Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Residential Care coordinates admissions, transfers, readmissions and discharges for residents and potential residents. Provides education, training, direction and oversight to nursing assistants and residents. Provides direct and indirect nursing care and assistance, meeting the psychosocial, spiritual and physical needs of the residents within the scope of educational limitation and in accordance with physicians' orders, OHFLAC, OSHA, nursing and department guidelines. Ensures proper documentation is completed. Interacts with residents in a variety of ways and settings, including social, recreational, diversional and/or vocational ways.

Job Requirements

a. Minimum Education Requirement : Incumbent must be a graduate of school of nursing.

b. Minimum Experience Requirement : A minimum of two years of geriatric and/or hospital experience is preferred. Should be knowledgeable in nursing/medical practices and procedures as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to assisted living. Effective interpersonal communication skills are necessary in order to communicate with and instruct residents, their family members and staff. Must be able to understand VHP and department policies and procedures and operate departmental equipment; ability normally acquired through on-the-job training.

c. Minimum License Requirement : Must possess licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in WV., BLS/AED, Food Handler and First Aid Certification required.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions

Heavy Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs with a maximum lifting of 100 lbs.
