SBA Regional Sales Manager manages a team of lending officers that generate Small Business Administration (SBA) government-guaranteed loans and lines of credit. Develops relationships with a network of financial professionals and other referral sources to identify prospects. Being a SBA Regional Sales Manager engages with clients to ensure their ongoing needs are addressed and to understand the broader needs of the small business community in the region. Regularly monitors and reviews the current SBA loan portfolio to identify issues. Additionally, SBA Regional Sales Manager maintains an up-to-date knowledge of SBA products, rules, and regulations. Establishes operational processes that conform with SBA SOP guidelines. Provides coaching, training, and development opportunities for banking officers on the team. Requires a bachelor's degree in finance, business or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The SBA Regional Sales Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a SBA Regional Sales Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • General Statement of Duties: Responsible for the procurement and development of a strong SBA portfolio based upon the principals and guidelines set forth within the Bank’s Business Banking Lending and SBA Policy.  Central to the development of these relationships is the leadership provided by the Officer through commitment to the Bank’s corporate culture and value system while demonstrating the highest level of integrity and trust. Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies and procedures.  Perform additional accountabilities as required.                 Major Duties and Responsibilities: Strong understanding of the SBA SOP Establish and maintain effective referral relationships with various centers of influence in order to safely grow the SBA loan portfolio. Thorough knowledge of the Bank's Business Banking Lending Policy, SBA Policy, and the Federal Regulations that shape said policies. Strong analytical, judgment and decision making skills. A solid understanding of a client’s financial needs as well as financial capacity. An understanding of the importance of the annual loan review process. Ability to monitor, recognize and react to changes, both negative and positive, within the loan portfolio. Effective management of a client’s deposit relationship. Ability to work as part of a team to execute strategies aligned with Bank vision and consistent with Bank's strategic plan. Ability to maintain effective Client relationships as well as employee relationships. Motivate, guide, and encourage others throughout the Bank to achieve established expectations. Understanding and adherence to all Bank policies and procedures. Participate in Committees as needed Direct calling on third party groups (CDCs, CDAs and other government agencies) throughout assigned geographic markets in a direct effort to develop credit enhanced loan leads. Work with Business Credit Services teams to assist in shepherding transactions through application, underwriting, closing and related servicing activities and ensuring that all SBA requirements are met. Once the loan process is completed, work with an appropriate Credit Relationship Manager to seamlessly hand off the customer relationship for ongoing management. Handle difficult negotiations and credit assessments on an independent basis and appropriately identify customer and transaction credit risks, and consistently apply credit policies and processes. Meet and/or exceed sales goals. Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies and procedures.  Perform additional accountabilities as required.   Significant Contacts/Interactions: Internal: Interacts with servicing staff, accounting, Credit Officers and in some cases Senior Managers External: Interacts with borrowers, accountants, approved SBA brokers, borrowers and bank attorneys and the SBA   Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business or related field (MBA preferred). Minimum of 5 years experience within commercial lending, with expertise in SBA programs. Strong knowledge of SBA SOPs, program eligibility, credit criteria and loan structure requirements. Formal Credit Training preferred. Strong SBA Lending background. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.   Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proven sales/outside calling skills and previous experience on a base and commission type of pay plan. Ability to indirectly influence managers and colleagues contributing to common SBA goal. Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent interpersonal and verbal, written and presentation communication skills. Ability to work in a matrix organization and develop partnerships across business lines. Ability to constructively manage and handle conflict. Credit rights under the law.
